This will be my first winter with goats. I'm building my goat house, and want to make sure it's appropriate for all seasons. We live in Oklahoma fyi. :) I guess my question is what type of door or lack there of, do you all have on your goatie homes?

I have two full size swing doors on mine, but the shed was already there so I kept the doors. In the winter, I close one completely and prop the other open enough for my goats to enter at will. That being said, the goats are out most of the time including winter. I live in VT. I would say that in Ok., you could most likely go with a three sided shelter. Opening facing south or south east. Some of my goat friends have three sided structures here and their goats do just fine.

That's what I have always had (3 sided shelters) until we moved recently. And, even now our building where the goats are does not have any doors.
Face the opening in the opposite direction of where the prevailing wind blows from when it's cold. Here in NC, when it's cold the wind is blowing from the N-NE. So, like goats&more goats said, face the opening to the south.

Gotcha! Thanks a bunch for your answers! I finished building the goat house today and am loving it! I may just skip the door altogether then. Buck seems to approve :). I know,a buck named Buck! Lol my boys named him after the funny little critter on Ice Age. :-D

Do you not have predators? Or do you keep a LGD in there?
We close in all our animals at night so the coyotes and mountain lions don't eat them...

We use a 3 sided barn. Never had any problems until this lats winter when it went 4 weeks without going above the freezing mark.

Your buck house looks nice, very cute. They will be happy there.
