New to BYH but very active on BYC. We have a small, very young herd of Alpine goats, two Australian shepherds, lots and lots of chickens, ducks, and beehives. I joke that we are in the business of making the land flow with milk and honey! Hoping to make some good contacts here and have a place to sound off advice for different things.

Great, the male was about 10 months old when we got the goats, and the female was added to the group a few months later at 1 year old. I have more trouble keeping them away from my chickens and chicken food than trouble with the goats! I was concerned for a while because the female is a little aggressive at feeding time- but doing some reading allowing LGDs to guard their food from the goats is normal and acceptable. Plus the goats really shouldn't eat the dog food anyway so she snaps and barks to keep them away from it. I just don't like to let the kids be around when I feed the dogs just in case.
