:thumbsup
LOL- @Baymule is trying to convince me to move to East Texas... and what is even more of a hoot is my son is too!:hu

That is wonderful you have found someone!
Congratulations on your soon to be new LGD!:weee

I have 6 Great Pyrenees and 2 Anatolians. None of them are incessant barkers. I did have to work with my Anatolians though. :rolleyes:None of ours roam, fence climb, wander, or dig...
When they do bark... it is for a reason.
I do wonder if some of these issues are lineage related. Friends of ours in the Mountains have all Anatolians because the pyrs up there are horrible... people buy them $50 and get 3-4 because they know at least 1 might make it as a LGD the others are "disposed" of.
Made me sick and sad.

That IS funny about @Baymule and your son ganging up on you! I used to live in MN and PA, and it took a bit to get used to the heat here. We probably had 30-40 days over 100°. But, by the end of the summer, it was doing fine on the 100° days. ;) They didn't even feel that bad. I think once you a climate to the heat, you would love it here too!

Yes. We are looking forward to meeting them ND breeders, and hoping it will be a good match. We found our Boer goats, after meeting someone on the Internet. :)

I'm glad you are doing well with your Pyres. I think you are right. It all depends on the stock they come from. That's just sickening what people do with their Pyres, up in the mountains!!! People should not be allowed to have animals at all, if that is the way they treat them.

That is sad about your dog, it also appears to happen with cockers as well....
Hmmm . . . thats interesting - and sad, that breeders care more about $$$ than quality breeding. I'm so grateful, that the breeders I have run into lately (goats and dogs) care so much about breeding quality lines! :D =D

I've got a buck who's sire came from Texas bred to a doe in SC from a farm in GA
I've got two does that I got from GA ones grand dam and the others great grand dam was the twin sister of that same buck from TX
The buckling I got from OH I wanted because I loved his grand dam who was on a farm in MA but was bred on a farm in TX
Point is you can find good NDs in TX and the good bucks get around

Welcome to BYH! :frow

Yeah, lots of nice nigi's in TX! Some of my girls have Piddlin Acres and one of my bucks has TX twincreeks. Both farms are in Texas. :)

I really hope you find what you are looking for!

I really want to bring in some Nigi's from AZ. The rest of the family thinks I'm crazy

Just to let you know..... We are picture hounds and would love to see some pics ;)

WOW! You have some noble stock!!! That's impressive! :bow

I'm not too worried about finding exceptional bucks when I start doing my own breeding - except for having healthy offspring. I could be wrong, but for me impressive lineage won't be as important, as it is for you, because I will be breeding for my own use and whethering my bucklings. I'm most likely going to do fine with percentage bucklings and does. Yet, I am fairly new at this, and it has been a long time since I did breeding charts in college biology. But, please don't get me wrong. I do still want good breeding stock with strong lineage, and I won't take the first ho hum buck that comes along. :) That is why I am so glad I found Backyard Herds! You all are so knowledgable and willing to share your expertise! :)

Thanks Goat Whisperer! :frow What a cool Name!:)

That's great that y'all are able to get your breeding stock from far and wide! WOW! AZ! That's quite a trek for you! Or do you pay to transport?

I'm trying to buy from breeders close to home, because I have heard that transport costs can get pretty high. I'm trying to keep our breeding stock fairly close to home, since I will have to leave my DH home to watch the animals, when I go to get our new goats. So, I am trying to stay close enough that I can do the trip in one (albeit long) day trip.

Thanks for the head's up about the two breeders here in TX. I'll have to check them out.

I a somewhat of a photo hound myself, so will be happy to post photos. They will have to wait a bit, though, until we get settled into our new home and get our perimeter fencing in, before we can buy our little yearlings. I do have some photos of the litter our little girl, Violetta and her Sire and Dam. I tried to upload them, but it won't let me do that. :( When I try to Choose a File, nothing happens. Well, hopefully by the time I get my little doelings, it will let me upload the photo files. :)

Generally it takes a little while to post pics.... you have to be recognized as "safe". I like the feature as sometimes there xould be a spammer or some knucklehead that could post something inappropriate or obscene.
Although you will find "obscene" photos when kidding dates arrive. ;) Almost like goat porn... girlie parts pooch tests etc:eek:

You might consider a Journal... It is a fun way to share your journey with others and posting pictures along the way. It can be fun...but that doesn't replace starting threads and of course. Posting in the LGD section when you get your new pup is a must!:)
And the goats section when you get your goats!:weee

Okay, thanks Southern. I thought it might be something like that. There is a lot of garbage on the Internet these days, and it's good to know y'all are being careful here. :)

Being so new at all this, we will see how much time I have to be online after I get my animals. But, I will most likely want to do some bragging when I get my puppy and goats, so will have to figure out how to post some photos.

Howdy! I am moving from southeast Texas to northeast Texas in the Tyler area. We'll be neighbors! We bought a house on 8 acres, this moving stuff is hard! Southern is trying to talk me into goats, but I think I will get sheep. Good luck with your adventures and be sure to keep us updated!
