I am plan inning on building a 16x24 barn to house sows, boars, and feeder pigs. I am torn between dirt, gravel, and cement flooring.

They currently live on the dirt with lots of bedding but with rain and dirt comes lots of mud!!!

I was conflicted but I am sure it is the more pratical/logical choice. Logistically, it will be tougher as I will probably need to mix it in cement mixer in small batches... Shall I add a small slope to it in the form of 1/2" drop per 2' ?

I would highly recommend that you pour the entire slab at the same time, otherwise you will end up with a hodge podge of a floor especially in getting a nice slope for liquid runoff. 1/2" in 6ft should be sufficient.

I agree, not only will it be more uniform, it will end up being cheaper overall then trying to do a few bags at a time... also a LOT less work, even if you do the pour yourself. With concrete though, make sure you have large doors into a well drained outside lot so you can use the pressure hose to clean them... poor drainage outside will make a mess... or no where to remove the detris from inside will cause it to gather on the sides and foul, and will be much more labor intensive to keep clean. You want to be able to clean it, especially in the case of a sick animal, or farrowing times.
