Ok so I have been wanting to bottle raise a kid sinc I got my first goat and then she had Babies and I enjoyed spending hours with them. Then I was looking threw Craigslist, and a dairy breeder on there had Nubian and alpines that were gonna have babies and could be picked up this week as bottle Babies or could wait till April. Now I don't want no negative comments about how it's cruel to take babies away from there moms. Most people do This to keep diease from the babies and some do it to future head bucks so they are extremely friendly. And I never take a kid from the mom if it's the only one it has. So I've read books, but I would like to know from differnt people what are the best ways they found to raise a a baby kid, like feeding schudlues, what the best to feed them(I think I'm going to stay away from milk replacer) and anything else.

Fresh goat milk is best. I have heard both pros and cons for whole cows milk (from store) and goat milk replacer. Seems to be a heated topic- so do some research and figure out what's best for your situation. We finished a goat on whole milk (raw and from store) and she did great, but she was 6 weeks old when we got her- so very different than a newer baby. After her we've always had goats in milk and milk in the freezer to use. Any chance you can find someone with goats and offer to buy their extra milk or frozen milk?

We feed our bottle baby 4x a day from day one- day 3-5. Morning, lunch, early dinner, right before bed. Then go to to three times a day until 2-3 weeks. After that they can be fed twice a day, but we usually keep 3x when we are home until they are eating hay/feed well.

One thing to consider is the cost of replacer or milk. Sometimes it's cheaper (though not as fun) to wait and get the goat (even for more $$) when she's ready to be weaned or close to it. 8 weeks + of milk can add up!
