I am VERY new to this, but decided to take the plunge into heritage pigs. I am getting a gilt that is half American Guinea Hog and 1/2 Kune Kune. She looks like an AGH with a short turned up nose like the kune kune breed. I am also getting a 3/4 kune kune and 1/4 AGH boar and someday will breed them. I also will get a barrow to grow and then butcher. They will live in my pastures with my dairy goats, chickens, and livestock guardian dog. I am super excited to finally make the plunge.

I agree, I want updates! Let us know how it all goes. We've been eager to try something like this, but only have 3 acres and do not want our pastures turned to mud. Those breeds are supposed to be hardy and really tasty :drool

I am just waiting for the piggies to be weaned. Super excited to begin this new adventure. This also gives me time to have everything ready.

Just saw pictures of the next group of piggies that are 4/4 Kune Kune and 1/4 AGH. Two of the 6 were spotty! Of course i am getting a boar from that litter and they are black. The thing that I noticed at the breeder's house is how little they root the yard they are in. She has them out on their lawn and around their other animals. She doesn't let them on the lawn right after it rains. Excited!

Silly me…..I bought an AGH sow who should be pregnant…..before I have my AGH/Kunes. Her name is Barbi-Q. She is already tearing up my pasture. Hopefully she really is preggers or she will be ribs and bacon soon! Is there a way to tell if she is indeed pregnant? She definitely was bred, but not sure if it took or not…

The big one is supposedly pregnant (AGH) and the little one (1/2 AGH and Kune kune). They are fun, but I'm no
