I have 2 does who just had their kids Tuesday. My first doe is named Ginger and she seems to be in pain still. Her rump is very tender. If you touch her, she will sink down to the ground. Also, her vulva is a little puffy. She is having a little more discharge than my other doe. What could be going on with her? She only had one kid and didn't seem to have trouble. She delivered the placenta on her own as well. Thanks in advance for any help, I am new to this!

Some new mommas just need time to recover, and I am guessing that is all. If she were here and I thought maybe there was an issue, I would start by putting her on a milk stand to tie her up, wash her backside with a mild, warm water and soap mix to get a good look at it. Then, take her temp and get a fecal sample to send in to the vet.

She just needed time....she was remarkably better the next day. I gave her some NutriDrench and just watched her. She's fine....I'm new to this and paranoid. The vet is going to come out for regular care and we will discuss worming at that time. We are planning on milking these ladies so I have to learn how all that will work. I am currently giving them 2 weeks with full time nursing from the kids. I do milk the mama who had one kid because she frequently gets engorged on one side. Thanks for the calming input!
