Hi my name is April and I live on a farm in Montana. We mainly raise alpacas and chickens but have aquired a 3 week old blind at birth Kat lamb. She is very healthy. She will be raised as a pet and will not be bred or raised for meat. She is currently bottle fed and does well with that. Has anyone had a similar experience? And if so, any tips or advice on raising her is welcome!

Thank you.

You may need to keep her separate from the alpacas if you use their fiber; I have heard the hair from hair sheep can make their way into fibered animals.

Do you know why she is blind? I ask only because we recently purchased a week old Angus heifer that was born blind. A week of antibiotics and she is good as new.

There are lots of reasons why a baby could have been born blind, but the top choices in my mind are genetic/congenital, Vitamin A deficiency, and infection.

She might do best if you got her a sheep friend. Her friend could wear a bell so that the blind one could follow her around.
