Sorry I haven't been back sooner, A friend from church was going thru a nasty divorce and needed to move her sheep, so we fenced in a two acre field for them, got them moved and another friend volunteered to castrate the rams, didn't go well, lost one to infection but was able to save the other two, got them in a stall after we sheared the maggoty wool off and doctored the open scrotem, they seem to be recovering now,
Got our surprise this morning we had been anticipating, new Shetland colt, beautiful color light grey with white mane and tail, did imprinting twice today and will do one tomorrow.
now if the donkey and ewes will drop there babies while the weather is still mild i'll be happy.
Our farm is located close to Caledonia, mo. been here 23 years, we've deeded off land to the kids so we're down to 38 acres, half open and half woods, spring fed creek runs thru it. It's enough for our hobbies.
Thank you for all the welcomes. i'll be back more often now after our second cutting of hay.

Sounds like you're quite busy! Nice of you to help out your friend and her sheep, sorry she lost one. I switched to an emasculatome (bloodless castrator) this year for my lambs, and I loved how well it worked, seemed to be less pain, and no worry about flystrike or infection.

Cute foal - do you drive your Shetlands? What kind of sheep do you have?
