I had a sheep this year who had twins, and she only liked the firstborn. I penned both lambs in a jug, and let them out several times a day to nurse under supervision. I had to hold mom the first few days - she did *not* want that second one nursing! I told her she either nursed them both, or she got neither of them.

It took about a week before I finally trusted her with them. She no longer headbutted the secondborn away, but she never let him nurse unless her firstborn was also nursing. He quickly learned to HURRY and nurse whenever his twin did.

Good luck with your goats, sounds like you've got a plan for giving him extra food. Just make sure he can't get to the chicken feed when he's in their pen, or he may overeat on it and get sick.

@norseofcourse Very good point on the chicken feed, I never even thought of that. Yes, the chickens only get to eat when he is out of that pen.
