Hey there @lpyrbby There is so much "garbage" on many web sites nowadays that it can "overload" a browser and system. One of the things that I have done and it may help you:

Switch to "Firefox" browser (IE is slow as molasses outside in the arctic! As well as always having "leaks", "holes" and potential exploitation issues (virus/trojan/PUP/etc.), not to mention scripts, scripts, and MORE scripts.) https://www.mozilla.org/

Then download and activate/install a couple of very good add ons (most are free!) to enhance the program.

One is called "No Script" (2.5 million downloads) which will block all scripts from (automatically) running when you first load any website/page. Many scripts are purely for advertising; pop-ups, side bars, top bars, etc. Others are to collect information about YOU from your computer without your permission, like sites you've visited lately/browser history, where you go on their site, any ads that you may have opened, and where you go when you leave their site, and SO MUCH MORE! Others can add malware and other devious nasty stuff to your system. Some scripts are solely designed to activate and load ADDITIONAL scripts! It's really a nightmare. With No Script, when you fist open a new site, it will open a warning box that you can click on and see what scripts have been blocked and then selectively allow those scripts that are absolutely necessary to open/load/see the page and no others.

Another is called "Add Blocker Plus" (23.5 million downloads) which does exactly what it's name states it will do. I don't see any adds, pop-up or other when I visit sites. I can go in and exempt some sites to allow pop ups if I want as some sites (like bank sites etc) need those pop ups to open windows you want to see.

One more that's very important to my way of thinking is called "Blur" which "hides" your personal info from sites trying to collect it. It makes you anonymous.

There are all kinds of add ons, extensions, and themes available to personalize your web browser for just you! https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/

Hope this helps you.

Edit to add: Greetings from the front range in Colorado. :frow I just noticed you're new to the site. :welcome Hope you can get the kinks worked out as the site is awesome for info and personal help w/herd issues! Folks are great and the threads provide a wealth of valuable insights. Good luck! OH, this was your 2nd post and I already greeted you in your first intro post... well, hello again!:D

I hope something can be figured out too! It takes so long to make a post go through, I usually just give up. I can't even browse the forum past about 3 clicks either :(

I'm already using an ad blocker and am currently using Chrome. I have the same problem in Firefox though, so I don't think it's browser related. I'm in IT also, so not likely cootie-related either.

I'm also on the sister site, BYC, and have zero problems over there. I'm really not sure what it is with this one that's upsetting the browsers lol.

We'll see how things go I suppose :)

Welcome from northeast Texas. We recently moved to 8 acres and have been busy putting up fence! If you plan on small livestock, investigate non climb horse wire. It has 2"x4" holes and not much can get through it. It isn't cheap, but we will only have to do this one time. Can't wait to hear more about your farm!

Hmm... we're not getting any other reports of problems.

Good job troubleshooting using different browsers. Are they all up-to-date? BYC is hosted on a different platform / server stack, etc. Maybe try some of the other sites on the same platform / server, like www.TheEasyGarden.com or www.SufficientSelf.com and let us know if you have the same problems.

Is anybody else having similar problems? If not, it might be a computer / ISP problem on your side?

It's likely ISP related, but I'm not sure how. I can browse fine from my phone, but here on my computer at home, I can only get about 1 or 2 clicks in and the connection resets and refuses to load the page for a while. I'm on satellite internet, so I know it likes to migrate my location around, but I certainly can't be the only one.

All browsers are up to date, and same with the computer (as it can be for Win 7). It's an odd thing indeed!

I just tested trying to access TEG after BYH gave up on me and couldn't get there either, even though that was my first ever visit. I'm posting from my phone now and will see if the problem repeats itself since I'm on the same connection.

Welcome to the site from Alabama! It's always good to see another fresh face here!

You'll find alot of great information here, and many people who are quick to respond and always willing to help. Don't forget to check out all the sister sites as well, because there is a good deal of information on those other forums as well. Please feel free to share your story/adventure here, especially as you prepare to introduce all your animals to their new home! We added chickens, ducks, and rabbits to our homestead this year and I found a lot of helpful information here when it came to those rabbits, let me tell you!

(I have to ask, what kind of tractor is in your profile photo, and is it running? My husband and I purchased/traded for work a 1954 Ford 800 from our preacher awhile back, and that has been one of the most helpful additions yet to our place.)

Again welcome, and hope to see you around often here as you work on your new home! :welcome

Hello, and Welcome from Blythewood SC about an hour and a half from Holly Hill. I'm pretty new to the site, also even though I was a lurker for several years before joining. So far our only farm-type aminals are 2 pygmy goats, but we have high hopes for many more sooner rather than later. You are sure to find all the help, advice, and BYH style entertainment you want here. The people are GREAT - friendly and helpful - and full of useful information. You can find everything from info on chicken breeds to building plans. If you have any problems, you will surely get a lot of help and useful advice. Check out the forums and dive right in.

:thumbsup:welcome:thumbsup

I'm still having problems with the sites on this particular platform from my computer. Seems to be no problem from my phone though, just fyi. I'm not sure what is misbehaving.

Homesteader Wife, no idea on the tractor! This was actually one that was left in the yard on one of the properties we looked at purchasing. I totally couldn't resist grabbing a pic of it :)
