I'm purchasing three more goats (one male, two female) to add to our small herd. All three will be less than two months old. I also have young goats (less than two months old). We are keeping one male, one wether and one female. Would it be possible to put the new buck in with the buck and wether I currently have? And, would it be possible to put the two does in with the young doe I have, along with the mother? I'm hoping that they are still young enough to not be combative with new animals. There is plenty of space.

Also, I was not going to quarantine. We purchased all of our goats from this lady (who is a reputable breeder) two years ago. Our new purchase is also from the same lady. We have not added any other goats from anywhere else. She shows goats and is meticulous with testing for disease. Ours were all recently tested and I will know by tomorrow if there are any problems. (I'm assuming that ours are fine as well). I don't pick up the goats until this week-end. Is quarantine necessary in this situation?

Thanks :)

The reason I quarantined wasn't for disease, They had the paperwork that they were clean, it was for the parasite bloom that happens caused by stress of the move. I wormed them the day I got them home and again 2 weeks later to ensure I wouldn't be bringing in someone else's parasites to my herd or any for that matter. As for introducing, I have only had to do it with a mom and baby to my herd of 3 yearlings. Because the mom was there, she was able to protect the baby from being picked on and the yearlings learned to respect him through her. I don't know what my yearling wether would have done to the buckling otherwise...

Suggestion -- have breeder deworm them now, then you do again in 2 weeks. You should also do your own now, as a caution for any the new may share. This would, theoretically, prevent problems and allow integration.
