Nubians are known for being noisy. I have been to quite a few goat shows and Nubians win for the noise, with Nigis coming in right behind them. I have one noisy goat, she is an Alpine. All the rest of my Alpines are quiet, my LaManchas are quiet too.

I know someone that raises Nubians that had a neighbor actually file a complaint about the noise.

My Saanens & Nubian -- quiet. Those mini nubs, wow. One just thinks her job in life is to holler at me :hide It's all about the feed bucket. Unless....it's the Nigi part that hollars:rolleyes:

When the Nubian does talk, loud voice. Saanen, soft & low.

If you really like the Nubians, I encourage you to get one. I do like them, but I'd never want to breed them. A few would be okay, but no more than that.

The problem is with the nubes is that it is an extremely overbred breed :( lots of issues that I have seen others deal with.
Here are a few, in short. I have seen many people struggle with-
-salivary gland abscess
-entropion
-ectropion
- wrong bite, bottom jaw to far forward or back
- G6S
-I have also seen more herds with CAE in nubes than any other breed.
- I see so many Nubians that can't produce more than 8 lbs of milk/day.

If you decide to get a Nubian, please do your research and ask many questions. Do not buy the first cute doe you see :)

Research G6S in Nubians, PLEASE buy from breeders who test for this! G6S is awful:(

Whatever you decide to do, be sure to post pics of your new goats!

Sorry for my absence - I've been out of town for a few days. @Goat Whisperer, I've never heard of G6S, but I will definitely look it up.

Again, thank you all so much!!

Alright, I know she probably isn't tested for anything (if she is, it doesn't say so in the ad), but I just wanted to show y'all this beautiful blue-eyed doe! :loveEven if she was tested, it would probably be a no-no, as she is 10 hours (roundtrip) away from us. On second thought.....our Alpine was 12 hours (roundtrip) away, and we went and got her!

She is really pretty. But I would definitely not get her if she isn't tested, we got to does that weren't tested and now we might have a doe with cl, so don't take the risk. Our Nubian wether is a pound mouth but cute. He also has under bite.
