Having trouble with certain grass seeds becoming imbedded in dogs' coats and skin. Also suspect awns are causing abscesses in one dog. Brushing coats and mowing grass, any other suggestions?

That is a nightmare...especially spear grass. Mow and try to kill it.
Sometimes the spears can go deep into the body cavity and even get into lungs. Call your extension services if you have them and see if they have any recommendations.

If there are abscesses you may want to get to your vet. Some imbed and "disappear" it cause severe issues over time.

Over graze it down to the dirt? Is digging it up an option?

I am currently battling Queen Anne's Lace, AKA wild carrot, and grass burrs. I despise them both. I don't use poisons, so I am pulling them up. I pull my wagon behind me and walk my place, pulling up the Queen Anne's Lace. They grow rampant down the sides of the road and are spreading into private lands. The grass burrs, I dig in the late summer when they are making burrs. I pile them on the burn pile and destroy them.

Thought about grazing but sheep won't eat it until there's nothing else. And there's a lot of it. We check the dogs a couple of times a day and keep the affected one in a clean area til the grass dies back. I may try tarping an area that we walk thru, I hate them in my socks and shoes. We survived Carolina horse nettles and have fought cactus to a draw, we'll beat this too. I appreciate all the advice and welcome more.

Carefully. Hand cut and toss. We didn't have much fortunately. The horse nettle we mowed or hand cut and the sheep ate it w no issues when it was young. We still have both but not nearly as much.

It takes walking your pasture with either a hoe or shovel. Sometimes I drag my wagon too. I love my wagon!
