We have a great source for spent grain and would like to feed it to our sheep but I am concerned that it may not be good for them. Has anyone ever fed their sheep spent grain or heard if it is ok for them?
Has anyone ever feed their sheep "spent grain" used in making beer?

My father in law used to feed it to his cows.
I'm not sure about sheep, but it's very common to feed brewers or distillers grain to cows.
I can't imagine why it wouldn't be OK to feed to sheep.

Check the nutrient analysis. I seem to recall something about the calcium/phosphorus ratio. Doesn't mean you can't feed it, but you might want to mix it with something to balance the ration.

I use dried distiller's grains with solubles in my grain ration for my sheep. I haven't had any issues with it. I know of a lady who feeds wet distiller's grains, but she has to feed A LOT of it due to the fact that the dry matter content is very low.

The couple I work for brings the wet grains back to the farm in barrels directly from the brewer's. We feed it to the lactating sheep and to the egg layers. It's good for them - high protein and fat!
