Must be a relief to at least now know what the issue is. If you do online searches you may be able to find single syringes of Ponazuril (Marquis) but still over $200.00 :ep :barnie :th I wasn't able to come up with anything else searching online... Couldn't find anything definitive on using Corid or dosages regarding horses... Sorry :(

We use toltrazuirl for our goats, it's actually made to treat cocci in horses. Not sure if this would be a good choice for you- I know nothing about horses.

You still have to order it online though. You can't get it locally. Does your vet have anything for it?

I'm going to go ahead and have the farm vet out. He's a little over 2 hours away and it'll cost a pretty penny but I want this poor baby to have a fighting chance. I'll update with what happens.

The vet told me that horses cannot have Corid. I couldn't make out what he was saying when he explained but they absolutely can't have it.

Okay!

The vet was pleased with everything I've been doing so far. Sammy does have some ulcers but he's confident they'll heal with continued treatment with UlcerGard. He was slightly dehydrated and received fluids. I'm going to continue with Red Cell.

As for the cocci, he is getting Equisul-SDT (Sulfadiazine/Trimethoprim) 400mg/mL. 3mL orally twice a day for 10 days. We'll do another fecal test in 2 weeks to see where we're at. Sammy hasn't gone down at all today and has really been perking up. We're all hoping he pulls through!
