Hi all,
I have a Guinea hog sow that just gave birth on Thursday. She's doing really well with the piglets but she seems to be developing diarrhea. I should add that this is her first farrowing.

I haven't changed her feed at all (Purina Pig and Sow along with hay) but now that she's separated from the other hogs she may be getting more than she had previously. Could that do it or should I be looking for something else?

Thanks!

She's possibly getting more feed and that could be causing it. You could give her powdered probiotics and see if that clears her up.

It could also be a sign of a worm bloom.

i agree with Ferguson. When was she wormed last? We occasionally have a pig who gets diarrhea after farrowing but its not common. The only thing i have been able to figure out with our pigs that did have a problem was their body was just stressed and it clearly up in a couple days.
