I haven't been on in awhile but wanted to share that I now have 7 bottle calves and have just purchased a Jersey to help me with the cost of milk.
My bottle baby herd is:
Ricky: 4 month old Angus/Short Horn Bull Calf (well a steer now)
Dolly: 2.5 month old Angus Heifer Calf
Blue: 2 month old Angus Heifer Calf
Stella: 2 month old Angus Heifer Calf
Ruby: 5 Days old Angus Heifer Calf
Thing 1: 4 Day old Angus Bull Calf (a twin)
Thing 2: 4 day old Angus Bull Calf (a twin)
I pay $150-$100 per calf. I just recently bought a bred registered Jersey Heifer "Lucy" from a neighbor. She is 2 years old and should calf in the next few days. Fingers crossed its a heifer calf. If she has a heifer calf I am going to let her raise her calf and my set of 4 day old twins.
We built an attachment to our riding arena so that I can raise up to 20 bottle calves at a time.
Here are a few pictures.
