XD Welcome to BackYard Herds from West Virginia!
Oh, there is a ton of info on here! (and I think we all need some of some kind;))

So, I'm in WV where there's trees. Lots of trees. And I would like to know more about keeping animals in the woods. There's a lot of people here in TX and places with like no trees. We have clearings 'round here but I'm thinking goats, pigs, and chickens would be especially good in the brush instead of out in fields. Let me know if you have any ideas!

Well, I have about 10 acres here and a good mix of trees and pasture, so I will be trying out both. So far I have most under trees for shade. Goats WILL eat on anything and destroy pretty trees. My bigger does will push a small tree over to eat the tops. Amazing for brush clearing. I let them in a 10x10 dog kennel that I move around all day. When I get home I will take before and after pictures of the area theyve cleared. I will be planting pasture mix in the fall when it starts to rain.

Officially Sandpoint, about halfway between Sandpoint and Clark Fork. Slowly clearing the trees..... so no pasture yet.

It's amazingly beautiful up there! I'm originally from Spokane, and I camped at priest lake every summer and my family has a getaway house on the river in sandpoint. We still go up there in winter for snowmobiling!! Great to know a fellow Idahoan!!

No, but I want to! They have both been harnessed a few times by the previous owner, but not really trained. I have no experience training, so I'm not expecting miracles!
