Two of the Alpacas my friend gave me are not up to weight. .I am having a hard time getting them to keep it on...oneale...one female....have been together but are now with herdapes of their own gender. Not stressed or anything. Females are on pasture...males get pasture a few times a week plus.coastal hay and their feed. Females get hay and feed also. I have wormed both with Ivomec injectable to weight. I have doses with Safeguard for a few.days at a later time. Still they don't seem to.have gained much. All the others have nice bellies and body weight..what to try next...

You could add alfalfa pellets or beet pulp to their feed and up their feed a bit. some calf manna wouldn't hurt either.

Always feed a high quality probiotic after deworming.

Greetings @Raztis11 :frow Welcome to BYH! Glad you finally decided to post! Looks like you've been a member for over 4 years :epWhat took you so long? :hu

Since your post is 4 years and 4 days after the previous one in this thread, it almost looks like your post was done that long ago and just now showed up... Caught in a time warp or something. Anyway, you're here now and that's great! Are you experienced with alpacas? llamas? There aren't many active on the forums who own/know alpacas and llamas so it would be nice to have someone to help others when they need it. If you have some, would you share some pics? We all love pics! Hope to see you around in the threads. Make yourself at home!

Lol.... I've been busy.... I walked my horse through a mud wasp nest two years ago. Ruptured MCL, ACL, PCL and a partially torn LCL. 6 knee surgery in 2 years. It's been a bit of a challenge but I made it and here I am. I do have experience with alpacas and llamas but I'm by no means an expert. I'm willing to help where I can. I'll see if I can hunt down some photos.
