Very little activity in this forum but this is my favorite time of year which means a new post. The day before yesterday it was 97 degrees. Today the high is supposed to be 77.

All of the plants in this picture were planted August 12th so it was pushing the end of the season for us. The bush beans in the picture are Roma and the pole beans are Kentucky Wonder on the right and Blue Lake on the left. We haven't had any rain in two weeks and they have not been watered - just a light mulch of Cotton Burr Compost.

There is cabbage and broccoli in the beds above these but I'm not sure if the bugs are going to leave me any. Curiously there are 4 cabbage plants in the bed with the pole beans and they have not been touched.

I need a couple of tons of compost. :)

I'm pleased considering this hill was more rock than dirt 4 months ago. I'm not going to say how many $ I spent on topsoil for those beans and fruit trees. My plan may get changed in the next couple of years as those little fruit trees grow.
