Hello everyone!
I am currently in PA, soon to be moving to TN. I am trying to learn as much as I can about the livestock that I am interested in, before my fiancé and I add them to the farm we will eventually buy. Once the farm has been bought, animals will be years into the future, but I am always researching.
I am an Ag science student, and I have worked on horse farms for most of my life. I have also frequented a local dairy farm for years, and have gotten many "behind the scenes" tours. However, I am a bit aprehensive about caring for my own livestock - so I continually search for different methods of care.
I look forward to bouncing ideas off of all of you!

Welcome from Ohio! What types of livestock are you thinking about getting?

Never stop learning, but remember, there are very few things about which there is only one 'right' way, whether it's housing, feeding, training, etc. You do what works for you and your animals. Start slowly if you can - having livestock is usually more time consuming and expensive than you think it will be, and each species will have its own learning curve. It can also be very enjoyable and rewarding, till you can't imagine your life without (sheep, goats, horses, cattle, pigs, chickens, etc...). Good luck!

Like Latestarter said, there is a bunch of people on this forum that really defines what a community should be. You will be moving to a great state but I assume you already know that. :)

A big howdy and welcome from the Great Lone Star State, where the stars at night are big and bright. Glad you found us, and double glad you decided to join us. We can be a rowdy group from time to time, but I think I can safely say that we all have the best interest of our animals as a primary goal and daily achievement. Now...

go grab yourself a beverage from yonder table and come over here and sit a spell, just shoo that darn dog off the bench since he don't belong there in the first place. Prop your feet up on the rail and just enjoy chatting animals, any animal, with the rest of us. You'll fit right in in no time a'tall!

Did anyone mention pictures? Please keep in mind we love pictures... especially once you get on your homesite and start collecting your animals. Thank you.
