thanks for your response. So, I can give her injectible ivermec even with her being pregnant?. Yeah, it is cold here. I dusted their bedding, but don't really want to shovel it all out, since it is insulating for them right now. I will if I have to. I just kinda wanted to be reassured that...
After talking to a friend I thought it might be lice, so I dusted her but it doesn't seem to be clearing up. (it's been two weeks, I was gonna dust her again next week) Her fur seems really untidy and she has several sores on her back and sides. She does appear to be itchy. She baa's more than...
I had believed my(dexter) cow was pregnant, and due in August, but today I caught her mounting my daughters male horse 4 times within a half an hour. (I have a mixed herd of my cow, some sheep, two horses and a goat). I have read that pregnant females will mount other female cows when they...
That is your hobby. I like helping others also. IF that fulfills you, why look for something else? Maybe take a volunteer position to get you out of the house every once in a while, if you really must?
Hi all! My goat is in definite heat--crying like a baby, tail switching, and she tried to mount my horse. Not good. Anyways, I am going to take her to the breeders place. Since she is in obvious heat, can I just leave here there for the day, or leave her for a few days. I would prefer to...
Ok, not really a driveway breeding, but I have found a bull to go on a date with my heifer. I realize she will have to stay there for a bit. What do you think is a realistic fee for having someone else's bull service my heifer?
I've never experienced heat stroke with rabbits, but it is quite possible. i would try and syringe her some water--she will need it more than food. How are her movements? (bowel, urinex
Do you haver hobbles? Best invention for kicky milkers. My doe is great now, but whenI first got her, she would do handstands, even with the hobbles on, so we attached a bungee cord from the hobbles to the milking stand. Worth the money spent, and they were not that much. :)
I did it for three years with no problems--even more animals than that. In my small barn I had rabbit and quail in cages along the walls, chickens in the main part, and horses on the other side. the chickens rabbits and quail shred an area20x12, and the horses (two shared an area the same...
Check out Freemotions thread-- she has one on here somewhere with pics of her hay feeder. I do the same thing with my sheep cow and goat. (basically). In there stall, the wall is made of horse fence. on the human side of the fence, I have attacheda board which is hinged onto the fence. I put...
Could you post this?
I'm with Aggie, I don't do much to keep my sheep healthy, they are pretty resilient. Check eyelid colour fo r anemia, which indicates worm load, and also I keep an eye on the dags, and trim them as necesary. My sheeps tails are not docked, and so far no problems. Mind...
My sheep stay out in the rain, unless it starts pouring, then they head to the barn. but they can tolerate the rain. Is tehre any way you could set up a movable canopy type thing, so they have a bit of shelter? You could move that when you move the netting, and then you wouldn't have to worry...
We got our horses four years ago, they are mostly for my dd. I didn't know much of anything about them, never had been around them ever. My hubby had some experience, but not alot.
Iwasn't scared of them, but at the same time, not exactly comfortable. I took riding lessons. And spent alot...
Ok thanks. well, she has no odour, and no softnessor lameness, I guess she just needs to have her toes trimmed back alot. We didn't take too much off the first time as we didn't want it to be a shock to her sysytem, ( I know if you trim too much off horses, theya re tender, so we used the same...
What are the identifiable markers for foot rot? I recenlty got a goat, who was in need of a good trim. Now, two weeks later, I see some peeling of her hooves, so she needs another trim. Is lameness the first sign, or is their something else I can look out for.
Yeah, a bit curious on that, and could I just use clves of garlic? No juice here.
Mind you, my cow is small, being a dexter. My guess would be around maybe 300-400 lbs.
