Did you buy a bull without knowing birthweight? I don't think I'd buy a bull without knowledge of that, especially if you are breeding any heifers. Sounds like a recipe for disaster.
You can also watch for clear mucous on your heifers. We don't keep a bull at our place so I watch for mucous and then for them to stand for another heifer to ride them.
When you had them pregnancy checked did the vet say everything felt right? Did you actually see the bull breed them? If these are really hairy is it getting in the way of the bull actually breeding them? Are the heifers cycling? What signs of heat do you see? You should see mucous when they...
I do the blood testing myself. You pull 3cc of blood from under the tail and send it off to a lab.
If you think she is as far past as you say, I agree you should have a vet look at her.
I'm still struggling with how this kid on a 4-wheeler hit and killed a steer, but is still well enough to file a lawsuit. I know the damage a cow can do to a vehicle, the damage even a deer does to a truck. I can't imagine how someone could hit one with a 4-wheeler and walk away. But...
Did you have a vet check her to verify that she is pregnant? You can also do a simple blood test (my preferred method). If she is a month past due, and no udder, I'd question if she is bred, or bred when you thought.
Our cows love bread items as well. Sometimes my father-in-law brings home rolls home from where he works and the cows think they have hit the lottery.
My son's show heifer loves carrots, apples, bananas. She's not afraid to eat. lol
I have collars on some beef cattle I have here at home. I use them to chain them in the head gates we have so that I can feed them individually. It's easy to walk down the row and just clip a chain to the collar They are also halter broken.
I'll agree, don't keep a bull. The cost of feeding a bull to breed one cow is not worth it. I'm sure you can have a breeder AI her for under 50.00 (My last cow AI'd was 30.00 total), no way keeping a bull can compare to that. And as others mentioned a bull needs an experienced handler, a bull...
