Talk to me about horns vs polled

I have a polled doe, and her doeling is also polled, you do not want to breed two polled goats to each other. usually if one is polled and the other is not, you will get some polled kids, look for the swirl on top of the head, if they have a swirl they will probably get horns. dis-bud bucks with...

Newborn weak and not doing well help!!! Update post #10

get you some strong coffee, and mix with molasses, with a pinch of baking soda, drench her with it being luke warm, give her about 6 cc but not at the same time. also a bo-se shot if you have it. you should see a turn around. you might need to repeat but normally the first dose does it.

Help! What's wrong with her teat? *Update* Kid died.

sorry about the baby, from the pic of her teat, to me it doesn't seem blown out, the one's I have seen look a lot different than that. maybe it just needed to be milked out since kid was drinking from one side, and she had missed getting milked? have you tried, or just let it go? sad about the kid.

    Can alfalfa cause scours?

when did you start him on alfalfa pellets? Is that the only grain your giving to him? I start mine out on a medicated feed, hay and water, with minerals free choice. but also I would be treating him for cociddia. just wondering how much alfalfa he was getting.

LGD eating dead kid tonight QUESTIONS

my guess would be cleaning up, maybe the kid was weak and mamma didn't take to it, if they don't get up and make noise they can be ignored, maybe the dog knew that. just guessing, last time I had a doe that had early kids, she knew it and didn't care about cleaning or nudging them. but better be...

How do you store your bagged feeds/grain?

we use metal drums with lids, no mice, and it doesn't get wet, it is kept in an area away from the goats. really makes it convient for us
