    New Kid

Well, everything was fine with everyone being loose last night. I went to check on them and all were in one of the covered kennels....although the new babe was just inside the entrance. Of course, seeing me caused everyone to get up and come out into the pen.

    New Kid

The does do butt the wethers a bit. Fortunately, none of them have horns. It's quiet out there now and everyone is loose. I may go out a few times to check on him. If Pickles were older I wouldn't worry so much.

    New Kid

Ok, so in case you didn't see my post in Everything Else Goats, titled "Jumped Back Into Goats", here is a quick summary: I decided to get back into goats after not having any for a few years. I found a 4 1/2 month old ND wether someone just wanted to give away to a good home due to him having...

    Jumped Back Into Goats!

Thanks, everyone!! Funny update......not only has Petals continued to jump the fence, in spite of her daughters being here, but now Willow is jumping over with her! It's fine, since they are just jumping into our fenced backyard. Nothing they can hurt or be hurt by, plus maybe they'll keep...

    Jumped Back Into Goats!

Petals did stop yelling for a MINUTE after I git the twins home.....as soon as they were all together in the pen, I walked back out to my drive to get things put away from the trip. I was up there maybe 5 min....walked back out to my livestock area and there stood Petals in my backyard! She...

    Jumped Back Into Goats!

Hi all! Something exciting has happened here! After several years of having no goats (I had rehomed all of mine due to health issues), I finally realized how much I really missed having them and my health is so much better. I started looking a couple months ago and last week found the most...

    New Neighbors.......

No, I haven't. My husband went over and met them when they first moved in. Things have calmed down a lot. My dogs still bark at their dog or children when they are out, but not excessively. If I think they've been barking too much I kennel them for a bit.

    BEST DOGS EVER!!!

This may be a controversial thread, as it deals with spaying/neutering my lgds....I know many here don't agree with it, or at least feel it shouldn't be done before a certain age. That debate is not the point of my post, but I wanted to share how completely AWESOME my dogs are! So, after much...

    INFO ON FEEDING

Hi all! I've noticed several threads about skinny horses and what to do to get weight back on them. I have experience in this, having taken on a SEVERELY emaciated yearling Arab filly several years ago. I researched looking for the SAFEST way to get weight on her, and got her to looking...

DO YOU THINK PONY RIDES SHOULD BE ALLOWED AT FAIRS??

I'm thankfully to have everyone's honest opinions here. I feel like I opened a can of worms with this post. I am not really against all pony ride businesses......it is more a matter of being against this one particular person who was not putting firth the effort to care for her ponies...

My Great Pyrenees and the Rain

As some of you know I have 3 LGDs....a 5 year old female Pyr and her 2 pups that are half Anatolian. They spend most days in their large kennel (it has a huge tarp covered straw bale house in it) and from about 5 pm until 5 am they are loose in our huge fenced backyard (they have an overturned...

DO YOU THINK PONY RIDES SHOULD BE ALLOWED AT FAIRS??

You're right about the laws hurting those who do right.....I am worried myself about the "No outside dogs" issue. What I meant is that the fairs allowing pony rides should have guidelines for the ponies. They should require proof of vaccines/worming and check the animals health conditions...

DO YOU THINK PONY RIDES SHOULD BE ALLOWED AT FAIRS??

I agree with everyone, that there are some pony ride businesses that take care of their ponies. I doubt anyone riding these ponies realized how starved they were.....their saddles/pads covered up a LOT. The problem is that there are not strict enough guidelines/laws for care of livestock so...

DO YOU THINK PONY RIDES SHOULD BE ALLOWED AT FAIRS??

Some of you know that I recently brought home 2 former pony ride ponies. I bought them from the woman who owned the pony ride business and had decided to get out of it. When I first went to see the ponies (in July), they were ALL terribly emaciated and so sad looking (except for one very...

WENT TO PICK UP NEW PONY......CAME HOME WITH "BONUS" PONY!!

I agree, horses/ponies should not be fat. I'm hoping to get some weight off Toby...I don't think Wilbur and Sam's true condition really comes across in the photos.....

    New Neighbors.......

I think everything will be fine. I haven't heard the neighbor's dog at all tonight. I heard them doing some stuff, but Sheba isn't barking at them at all.☺
