and... meat is meat. If you are only looking for personal meat supply, you can certainly get it from Nigerians. Kinders haven't "gotten" to our area really... so I don't have any personal experiences with them. I have NDG and love them.
Hang in there!! More times than not, things go well. It's easy in forums to get worried, because "no news is good news" and you see a high concentration of people that had things go wrong over people that had things go great. Forums are not a good place to get an idea of what "norm" is...
"This does great wonders, usually, for breaking that attachment, so by the time they're hormonal, they're just "there" and not "all up in there"
BWAHAHAHAHAAAAA Love it!!
:lol:
Sorry I thought you were yelling! lol No harm no foul, right? Now that I know typing in caps is just easier for you, I won't mistake it for that again. :)
My older doe has them... the younger one doesn't have them as badly... but she hasn't been around as long to wear them off! I've seen it on just about every goat I've ever known.
I read somewhere (and I can't remember where... sorry) that the amount (or really lack of amount) of water they drink can affect the flavor too. Made sense at the time I read it... I wonder, since your off days are irregular, if it isn't related to days when your does are drinking less water?
It's been a rough year for a TON of goatie people I know!! Keep us posted if you hear more!! Copper/Selenium info and theory is something I'm super interested in right now.
@helmstead
Thanks for letting me know they do that... I haven't seen them comment like that before that I can remember.
Not sure where I got snippy, but thanks again...
Not sure why there's yelling going on... but whatev... (all caps sentence after sentence are the on line version of yelling.)
Apparently I'm the only person with a Dam raised doeling that comes when she's called and doesn't have to be chased. She also happens to have been raised by a shy doe...
Things like too many, and young enough are relative terms... My breeder has about 25 goats at any one time. It's not as big as some goat herds, but it's bigger than my herd, (and since this forum is "backyard herds" I assume most of the people here have "smaller" herd sizes. Most of her goats...
I'm so sorry for your loss!! I have a goat breeder friend on line that believes that a lot of unexplained goat deaths are copper deficiency related. I know you didn't choose to do a necropsy, but I highly recommend you bolus your goats with copasure. Even goats getting free choice loose mineral...
Well if the smell was on her head area, maybe they liked rubbing on each other through the fence... lol silly goats. :) It will be interesting to see if you notice the smell again sans boys in the 'hood...
I am leaning toward this being your real issue too... my goats smell like hay... I've only smelled goat smell on does if their bedding is in need of a change.
