interesting. if I could make it work outside I might try it, though It might be too hot here in the summer too. I just have no indoor room to deal with it.
Animal mom, can you post pics of our greenhouse enclosure? And what sort of temps is it doing well at? I would think wheat would be ok ever in the winter as long as your water and piping didn't freeze.... It grows during the winter around here.
But isn't that why we give a higher dose of the 12.5%, at 3.15 per 5# instead of 1 per 5#? This is the first time I have dealt with Cocci in goats. I have done it with cats once or twice, and there we treat for like 2 weeks straight, cleaning the litterbox vigorously to get things clear. Hard...
I did Di-methox 12.5% solution at 3.15 ml per 5 lbs the first day and then halved that for 5 days thereafter, as recommended on the cocci info page on here.
Hey guys,
I've got a two week old buckling and he started scouring a week and a half ago and acting off. I started treating him for cocci, and did a fecal that evening and confirmed there were a lot of cocci in his stool. I treated him with GI soother for 6 days and Di-methox for the full dose...
Yeah, we don't have tons of Kudzu around here, but there is a patch up by our lake that my husband regularly cuts from and brings the cuttings up here for the goats. I am afraid to plant it intentionally with how evil so many people say it is. But the goats do love it, and I bet the fence would...
Yes, with one of the systems it does not look bad, but this link on this post was not with one of those. She said the seeds had to be watered 3-4 times a day, and I know in my life that would never happen. With the setups, space is an issue for me, finding a window somewhere where my cats won't...
I tried making my own mix for chicken feed for a while. Problem was they were picking out their favorite parts and wasting a LOT of feed, and not eating the powdered stuff I had to add like fish meal to increase the protein amounts. So, after a while I gave up. It was taking longer, costing...
Hey guys,
I have Nigerians. I have 4 does in a pasture area about 500 Sq ft I think right now, with 2 kids in there with them. Then I have a buck and wether out in a separate pasture, that is slightly larger, but has trees and is a woody area. The girls pasture is cleared and almost an extension...
I have comfrey plated for mine. It grows like a weed, so it doesn't really require much on my part except to cut down some of the other weeds around it sometimes. I just walk my every day or two and harvest some leaves to toss in their hay feeder. I don't have enough of it to cut down my feed or...
OK, here's what I did to make a good vanilla, kid-friendly yogurt.
1 Q of goat's milk brought up to 180, held for 2 minutes, then brought back down to 115. While cooling I added 1/2 cup sugar and 1 T vanilla flavoring, also added about 1/3 a package unflavored gelatin, already dissolved.
Put...
Hey All!
After year of having goats I am finally having an excess of milk to make some fun products. So far I have made a Queso Fresco that I really like, and I have a batch of Chevre hanging right now that looks like it is turning out perfect. (I made one before that was too runny) Anyway...

Kat at Fir doesn't recommend the feed the milk back method, though I have read that. Her Mammareze product has been awesome here. She also sells a herbiotic salve and oral herbs that can help. we have resolved udder issues here with those products very well.
SO FYI if anyone else has this problem. I calle dHoegger to see if anybody there had scaled down plans for a goat box and it turns out that new this year they now carry the kid holding box and kid stall in both regular AND dwarf/pygmy size. The dwarf size box was 10 3/3" by 6" by 16". I suppose...
My doe has had trips all three times she has kidded. She just kidded yesterday with triplet does. Never had a problem. Just watch to be sure nobody is getting leftist and looking skinny. I find there is more jostling and fighting over the teats with triplets, but most does can handle feeding...
