    Goat hand milking machine, anybody?

Well to be honest I ordered the dansha manual pump milker, got it, kept saying Id try it out today, then never did. For 3 weeks I didn't have the time to take to mess with it, or be sure it was cleaned correctly after each use. I milk before work and in the evening, and very busy im between! I...

    Supplement for a better coat?

Where can I get kelp? I have a for with dry flaky skin and a dull coat. They have been dewormed twice so maybe they just haven't bounced back, they are putting weight on and eating well but just a dull coat. I put DE on them and give ACV in water sometimes. They get seaweed meal and some loose...

    Does your milk taste "goaty"?

There's no kids on them, and I don't think I feel any warmth to their udders, but I'm a newbie so I maybe wouldn't know! I will say I have noticed this the whole time I've had them and have been milking, it just gets goaty after a few days. So this isn't really a new thing. I never thought how...

    Does your milk taste "goaty"?

I bring mine right in the house, filter it and put it in the fridge. Never longer than 20 minutes after milking, and that long is rare.

    Does your milk taste "goaty"?

I had found that my goats milk tastes great for the first 3 days, then starts to taste like a goat! For a long time I drank fresh, raw cows milk and a gallon would last me over a week and it never tasted odd to me. But for some reason my goats milk tastes funny in just a few days. Could it be...

    Increasing production, is it possible

These goats are very picky eaters. They mainly prefer oats, so I mix purina goat chow which is a sweet mix with oats and they eat it. I have been getting more milk lately, especially from one doe. I have got her to increase by a cup each milking. Honestly I'm getting enough milk for my small...

When do u breed/what's your location?

I dewormed and plan to again 10 days after first dose. I was told to again 10 days after that too. I didn't think I'd breed them until some time in May, or first of June. They have been doing better and eating better, but I wouldn't breed them if they were still under the weather then, which...

When do u breed/what's your location?

I have another thread about my Nubian does I got about two weeks ago. What I have learned is since they hadn't been hand milked and both had a kids nursing on them they have started the drying up process. I am not getting as much milk as I had hoped when I purchased them, I was given the...

    Increasing production, is it possible

I can maybe fit a milking in around 3:00. But that will be 7:00am, 3:00pm and 7:00pm bc i don't have lights out there yet and I need to get it done before dark. Would that be ok? And what if I couldn't do the mid day milking every day? Would that still be ok?

    Increasing production, is it possible

I have been milking twice a day and seem to get the same or maybe slightly more than if I only milk once a day. It seems to fluctuate day to day though and I don't know what causes that? I would think I'd get roughly the same amount each milking or day, but say some mornings I'll get 2 1/2 cups...

    When do u wean?

Ok thanks. I know a lot of people leave them until 6 weeks but I just cant see that happening, they are good size already and mama seems to have had enough! Do u have to check does for mastitis or engorgement once u take the babies off her? I know when I took piglets from my sow she got so...

    Natural dewormer for milking goats

All I have found at feed stores is the pelleted safe guard. And valbazen doesn't say a withdrawal time

    Natural dewormer for milking goats

Oh yes I'm definitely not against a chemical if that's my only option, I just wanted to ask here before I jumped to use one. I think I'll go valbazen. Just one week will be enough time to not drink the milk? Thanks for speedy responses!!!

    Natural dewormer for milking goats

I have been told safeguard doesn't work well, and calbazen says not to give to lactating does bc they have no idea of withdrawal time. And I can't find any other kind of dewormer. What should I use?

    Natural dewormer for milking goats

I have two Nubian does I got just over a week ago. They have had diarhea and I figured just the stress of moving. I gave probiotics and it helped one, but then it came back. I brought a sample to my small animal vet and he saw large amounts of strongyles he said. They hardly have an appetite...

    Increasing production, is it possible

I have been back and forth with so many people on how this all works. I have been told u need to milk an animal every 12 hours to keep production up because it trains the udder to produce more milk as if calfs or kids need it. I have also been told goats are different than cows and can get by...

    Goat hand milking machine, anybody?

I have Nubian does, and to me they have large teats, but I have definitely seen bigger. I just worry about spending the money in the EZ and if it doesn't work for me because they won't refund. Cheapest I have found it for is $187
