I've been meaning to ask this question. Early March we had one of our Boer crosses had a stillborn that was full formed except he had no eyes. (Yeah, sad). He came out early, IMO, malpresented, and dead. I doubt he was alive when he was born.

She had supposedly had babies before and is about 4 years old. Just a fluke? Weird.

Did she get into any moldy hay? Do you feed chaffhay? Is the hay stored outdoors or in a shelter?

It may be a fluke, the fact that it had no eyes is very strange.

Hay is stored indoors. Standard grass hay or grass-alfalfa mix. Occasionally fed Standlee hay pellets because we ran out of hay and had to find more. She might have gotten some mold, but no one else had had this problem. The no eyes thing is really weird.

Yeah, it left me scratching my head. The buckling came out hock first. Very flaccid and dead. Huge. I had to pull him out. I thought about giving her antibiotics afterward, but didn't. Probably should have but she's fine. :hu
