We have a mixed herd of cows. Hereford, Angus and Short horn in BC, Canada. This is our first year raising calves on the farm...sadly we lost one of the two calves yesterday. Our first bull is about to get dropped off any minute now! Hoping to do whatever we can to prevent any more losses. Any suggestions are really appreciated!

Welcome! I don't have any suggestions on cows. My DH claims I make all of ours pets, but that is not true... it is beneficial to have the cows come to the sound of treats banging in the bucket. After all, how else would you call them?

Pictures of your new bull, and the rest of the herd would be appreciated, please and thank you.

Thanks for the welcome! Here are pics of our herd. The bull is now in the field and the girls are slowly letting him in the group. They slept together last night but he grazes on his own but the girls are very interested!

The picture of the black angus and her calf is the heifer calf that we sadly lost. Feeling pretty sad about it still.
