So to be honest we are total newbies when it comes to goats. We recently acquired twin brothers born on 4-19. We have been bottle feeding them. They stay in the house right now because in Indiana the nights are getting down to the 30's and I dont want them outside in that. When i opened up their kennel this morning to feed them and let them outside to play I noticed that the larger of the two's ear tip had fallen off and was in his pen. Then later when I went outside to feed them his other ear tip had fallen off on the opposite ear. After doing some research I could only come up with frost bite but that seems impossible seeing as how they have been in mostly 60+ degree house and go outside when the weather is above 50. The ears dont seem to be bothering him but falling off doesnt seem normal to me. Any suggestions? We are currently putting bag balm on the tips.

Uhh, pics?

Could be an infection.. I'd put blukote on it right away. And you may want to separate him from the other goat.

Quite probable that the ears were frostbitten before you got the goat. It can take several weeks for the affected area to slough off.

Looks like someone's just gone 'snip' and chopped the tips of his ears off!
He hasn't gotten them trapped in a door or anything has he? Looks almost like the edge has been crushed and then atrophied. What did the parts that fell off look like?
The little one hasnt been chewing on them has it?

Same here. No idea what happened, but it looks to be healing fine.
