Hi,
I was wondering if a Standard Rex would be a viable option for meat production as I would like to get into fur as well in the long term.
Thank you for your reply.

:welcome Many people raise standard rex for meat and fur purposes. From what I've read they take a bit longer to grow out to butcher weight and to have the ideal coat, though.

It's really up to you. I raise NZs now, but have raised both other breeds and have found that the lines you are buying from matter far more than what breed. If you want good temperaments in your breeding stock, make sure the person you're buying from raises rabbits with good temperaments. If you want fast growth rates, or parenting, or whatever specifications, make sure you meet the stock and see as many records as the breeder will show you.
You can also always mix and match until you get the coat and growth rates that you want in the rex yourself. The rex coat is recessive, so it would take some doing, but it would be an interesting project ;)
