Now I just have to get the hive in readiness for them! It's ready to go, just need to put the wax foundations in. They need to rest a day or so anyway, it's a rough trip through the mail! ;)
They'll be ready to move into their new home tomorrow! :)

Good luck with the bees, hope it goes well and they make a lot of honey for you. I have 4 hives, hope I can keep them alive this year :(

Yes, but they make new ones to replace themselves. I just hope mine decide to stay and not fly off!

I'm so jealous. I dream of bees and honey is my favorite thing. Sadly I'm allergic to bees...I really need to figure out how to get around that :)

Well yes under normal conditions, but the whole hive can "crash" and you lose all of them. I've had this happen before and it stinks.

Yeah, hopefully this year they will be okay. Last time I had bees, they lived for two years, then crash! I think it was because the farmer down the road was raising GMO corn. We've moved since then.

I lost two hives last year, 3 the year before. They just up and die/disappear. All in different areas and no major agricultural so can't blame it on any one thing. Treated for mites but organically; maybe that just isn't enough. I will be retiring this year so hope to have a little more time to spend on the bees, might have to try a "real" varroa mite treatment and see if that helps. I have been keeping bees for 5 years, or at least trying to and the longest I have had a hive is 2 years.
