Second dose needed?

could someone please tell me it Dectomax or thiamine need follow up shots? I gave them the first one last night. I would think I may need to repeat them. But I don’t know if I need to tonight or a week or two from now. Two different vets won’t answer that question for me.

Dewormers generally kill 4th stage so yes you need follow up. Usually 10 days apart... however Not sure what dectomax you are using

Here’s the picture of the dectomax. Have you ever used this Advance product before? I had initially bought it for scours treatment. It does have probiotics in it which was suggested since the boys will be going through so much in such a short time. I wonder if it would be of any benefit for them.

What mineral are you using and are they eating it yet?

The dewormer should have follow up by weight to break the cycle.

I was pretty sure they would need a follow up shot. As for the minerals I don’t think they are eating much if any of it. Unless they only need a very tiny amount, like a lick size, they aren’t getting it or enough. Besides the pouches of advance stuff I did buy a tube of this Probiotic Plus Paste. I have yet to read the label. I’m wondering if it can be dissolved in warm formula/bottle and given that way, in case they won’t simply lick it up.

I will have to reread the FAMACHA again before I’m sure what I’m looking for. But I tried to get a feel for how anemic or ill they might be.
-their eye lids vary slightly but I’m going to say they are a very pale pink. A whole lot more white than pink/salmon.
-their actual eyes themselves aren’t as pretty or bright as they used to be. Not cloudy. But almost sunfaded.
-most of them the ribs can be felt with light petting, but they are not prominent.
-their sternum can most definitely be felt without much pressure.
-a couple of the babies look thin before we give them their bottles.
-their tails don’t stick up like they used to on most. But they still wag when they are eating.
-I haven’t looked inside their mouth yet.

The vet did not say how bad it was or the count.

I’m kinda wondering if I should bring back a third bottle, be it half or full. Some of them are acting very hungry despite the amount of pellets they are eating. Which is probably 4 cups a day of a blend of three different pellets. They are eating hay quite well. I give them Timothy, orchard, alfalfa, and something we bought from a farmer that looks like it’s overgrown yard grass. They LOVE the yard grass stuff. And a couple of them look like they may have lost a little weight. Not emaciated but thinner than they were a week or two ago.

Do owners/vets treat the anemia with something or do they get rid of the blood suckers and let them build it up on their own?

I’m still noticing shivering. It’s not as strong as it had been. But today being a 19 degree day they were definatly colder than I’d like to see.

Two of the goats have large patches of really short fur. Not in the same places where they had hogged the heat lamp and singed themselves.

I’m trying to not panic. But there is a whole lot going on with these little guys. I’m a bit more than concerned about them. Do you have anymore ideas as to how I can boost their strength to fight all they have been through and are about to go through? We do plan on castrating them. I would have loved to do it Monday or Tuesday since I’m starting their pain medication tomorrow like the vet wanted. But, I’m pretty darned positive dealing with three pretty big issues would definatly cause them to stress, possibly even kill them. I’m thinking the banding is going to have to wait at least until their heads heal over so they aren’t open, if they are going to be open after their dehorning. There is so much going on for them right now. I’m so afraid I’m going to lose some of them. And I have a feeling it’s not going to be a sudden death. Likely over the course of a week or two. That’s my biggest worry right now. I don’t want them to suffer.

I did finally look at this probiotic powder you like. It does sound like really good stuff. I’ll have to see if I can get it locally or something very similar. I’m not overly fond of ordering things online, unless it’s amazon.com.
