This /\ is generally the complaint....not so much the content, but quantity.
As I said, it doesn't bother me much and as someone that firmly believes in free enterprise I understand it, and we all agreed to this when we registered.

It's in the TOS, and if you look at the bottom of most BYH pages, it clearly states that Cafemedia has input to this board and you probably already know Cafemedia owns AdThrive. It's simply the way of the internet world as it is today. (Google btw, is the middle man.)

Many boards and web based apps do offer a 'way out'...The "Go Premium" option like Youtube offers.

As far as why the ads have to be popping up more often all across most of the internet, injected between posts etc, changing, flashing etc.?
I had this explained to me on another board by that board's administrator and that may or may NOT be the case here:

"IF the ads were less 'annoying', there would be fewer people paying to go ad free."

Look at it like a prescription medication that you take, that works great but may also have a little undesirable side effect.

So as one who has been on BYH as long as you have, and post as often as you do and are a "BYH EDUCATOR" ...why are you not supporting the site by being a GHM...?

Did we forget to post something @B&B Happy goats ? Your post is blank................:idunno

She included her reply within my quoted text due to a bb code error. (missing letter & bracket at the end)

Thanks for all the great feedback everyone!

It's definitely a struggle to find the balance between keeping the site alive / free while also making sure the ads are not over-the-top.

A couple of ads are ok, but inserting them between the thread text, jumping the page up and down, flashing ads on the right, is just too annoying.
Ads within content is pretty standard throughout the web. I don't know very many big websites, blogs, news outlets, etc. that don't do this. That said, the "jumping" issue is definitely something we're looking into and hope to have fixed.

I keep the sound turned off on my computer because too many of the sites just have way too many loud sounds.
There should NEVER be an ad that plays audio without you specifically clicking on the ad. If this ever happens, please report it!

"IF the ads were less 'annoying', there would be fewer people paying to go ad free."
This is absolutely NOT our policy here. We'd be completely happy to simply run the site on advertising and not have paid memberships. This is something we added at the request of our members. We absolutely do NOT want the ads to be annoying and would love to have ads that have zero annoyance.
