Oh no! Have you tried Bonide snake repellent? I personally have not used it yet but I've asked quite a few people who all say it works great. You can get it at TSC, amazon or ace hardware!

Oh no!!....that is a grey rat snake....they will and can empty a nest rather quickly and will return if they aren't "dispatched" and depending on size can eat up to 18 eggs.....I've tried relocating them, but they can travel some distance and to be sure they are not returning.....take them out....they will eat young birds also.....hope ya showed this one your appreciation FEM!!.....:rant:somad

Yep - definitely a big ol' rat snake! Couple years ago I had a big one like that - possibly the same one because I relocated it.:hu

I found a shed skin a week ago when I was mowing so I've been on the lookout. I didn't catch him this time. Silly me - I thought he'd be moving a little slower since he was carrying a load. But, he turned around and slipped out a low spot under the barn wall. He needs to take care of the rats and leave the eggs alone - but since I know he won't...… the next time I see him he'll turn into pig food!

We killed a big one that was stealing eggs. Paris about wore herself out "killing" it again and again. It was 5' long and she couldn't shake it like she does copperheads. She shakes them so fast and hard that they go to pieces.

Gracie would have loved to get at this guy. A few years back I had two West Highland White Terriers. They found a rat snake (not quite as big as this one) but they "tug o' warred" it to death. It tweren't pretty...ugh.
