Hey y’all! I’m Lacey. We’re a military family counting down to retirement & goats. I’m here to get ready for that day! We’re actually looking to buy retirement land in mid/East Tennessee so I’m researching everything I can to make sure we buy a piece of land that lets us do ALLLLL the animal things!
I’ve got a Marine for a husband and two very active boys I homeschool. We’ve lived east coast, west coast & Japan!

big howdy and welcome from the Great Lone Star State... where the stars at night are big and bright. Glad you found us, tickled pink you are here.

There's a good representation of retired military here so you will fit in just fine.

There's a whole new world waiting for you once you step into the animal zone. Laughter, fun, some heartbreak but a whole ton of rewarding experiences. I hope you decide to keep a journal here. We all would love to read some of your stories/adventures and offer our help... just a big hint that we love, love, love pictures.

Semper Fi to your man from the daughter of a Marine Master Sergeant.

Welcome Lacey. We live in southern Middle Tennessee about 20 miles or so from the Alabama line. I'm retired Navy myself. Are you familiar with Tennessee at al? I was stationed in Memphis a couple of times which was enough to let me know I did not want to live in west Tennessee but close enough to Middle Tennessee to let me do a lot of exploring.

I’m from Florida! I grew up around Gainesville. We are familiar with TN, I’ve got family near Manchester. We love being in/near the mountains but I realized on our first land hunting trip that living ON one scares the poo out of me! :D
My boys will be 14 or 15 and 11 or 12 when we head that way. They’re VERY excited!
My family has pigs & chickens on 12 ac growing up so it’s not entirely unfamiliar to me but now I’ll be one of the people in charge and that is!

Welcome to BYH from Middle Tennessee!!
I would definitely recommend mid tenn...it's warmer than east tenn and has no bears or cougars ha ha!
Plus there's a lot to do, it's absolutely beautiful here and the county I live in has no restrictions as to what/how many animals you can have....:woot

And you should be all set when it comes to every question you have about goats...there are tons of goat people on this forum with great info!
I'm not one of them though :p

Welcome from Texas! My brother was a Marine, Vietnam Nam veteran. He was in for 4 years, but remained a Marine all his life. Thanks to your whole family for your service.

You will love it it here, lots of friendly people who love to help. We have hair Sheep, I was a member here for five years before we got sheep. During that time I sure learned a lot. BYH is the place to be!

Once a Marine, always a Marine! It’s a fantastic family & as small as the Corps is, we’re always running into Marines.

We want the cold!!! We’ve spent all our time where the Marines are and that’s hot! Looking toward to a little bit of winter! But I love seeing the enthusiasm for TN. Every time we visit or talk to people from TN it just reaffirms our decision.
