Hello all,
I’ve been reading this forum for quite a while and thought it was time to finally join.

My husband and I are novice homesteaders, having started on this journey “for real” 4 years ago.

We have a couple cows, a horse, one pig, a bunch of chickens, and too many rabbits.

Welcome to BYH from Tennessee!! :frow:welcome
What kind of rabbits do you have?:)
Thank you!

We have a pair of Californians, a Silver Fox doe, a couple broken New Zealand black does, a New Zealand blue buck (my Mother’s Day present this year :) ), and a black meat mutt buck.
We mostly breed for our own meat and sell a few to try to cover our feed costs. I’ve been beginning to learn how to preserve the pelts too, but haven’t done anything with them yet.

Sounds like fun! I always wanted to tan pelts :)
Also, I was looking into raising Hereford pigs...what has your experience been with them?
I love heritage breeds, especially the pigs!

This is my first experience with pigs of any kind, but we’re pretty happy with our pig so far. She isn’t particularly friendly and seems kind of jumpy to me but we haven’t spent the time to make her friendly. She is non-aggressive though and very respectful of the fence. We’re really excited about her coming piglets!

Good to know! And good luck with your piglets! I hope all goes well :)
