I was wondering why BYH has no logo?
I have a suggestion. Have a BYH logo contest or something fun to get BYH promoted and seen. BYC has a logo. Maybe a Red Barn with a few livestock in Farming cloths behind a fence waving is a gooder?
This place needs a boost to get people interested. It's really a ghost town here.๐Ÿ˜•๐Ÿ˜ณ

A ghost town! LOL So far, we have liked our ghost town. New members are always warmly welcomed, problem is, most of them just don't say much. Recently with the Covid, a lot of people are interested in growing their own and have joined BYH. But it seems they mostly lurk, which is good in it's own way, as they are learning. But most of the posts are from the same ol' blabberfingers doing most of the yakking. So how do we get new members (and long time members) to post more?

Bingo! you hit the WINNER button! I refuse to keep a journal. If I have something of substance to say, I start a thread for it. For instance, I make a new feeder pig thread every year. I can find them easily, better than going through 12,378 pages of journal trying to find something I did 4 years ago.

I don't have a journal. I do read them. But I do expand on the "coffee" thread more than others for "day to day". I wish some of the other members who are MIA would come on more often to update and reply to current things. Just become active again.

I reply to threads. Begin one if I feel it is warranted. Been doing this so long that most is "every day" for me.

I actually talk to you all more than family most days. They aren't as interested in the number of kids born, the milk I get or what I do with it. :idunno Garden? well, they don't eat most of the veggies! Always did when young but, not now. Buy & sell animals? Harvest any? Nope -- they will sure eat them -- don't explain how it got this way! Where did I go wrong? ๐Ÿค” Not like they weren't raised with all this.....๐Ÿ™„ But here, many newer to the lifestyle do want to know things, ways, results.

All that has NOTHING to do with a logo!:lol::lol:

A logo is cute but, won't be an incentive for members, IMO.

X2

My DD and family are picky eaters, Privately I call them food snobs. The best of everything and they want it out of season, fresh. Canned? Nope. Frozen? Maybe. Unpopular cuts of meat? Use the whole animal? Shudders....... Living with the seasons? They haven't got a clue. My son, he totally gets it. A true country boy, he will be 38 in a few weeks, never married. Now if I can just get the boy married and having some kids.......... LOL

I don't think a logo will motivate people to post more threads, but it would make a nice T-shirt. LOL

Great discussion! We're always wanting to make sure people feel welcome and also have motivation to keep active with our community!

Regarding the logo: we do have a logo... it's the name of the site with the images :) It may not be a "traditional" logo, but what is? I mean, Google's logo is just their name.

Regarding journals: I LOVE the journals on BYH! They are a big reason why our members keep visiting (to post and to read / engage). If anything, I'd encourage everyone to keep a journal and post in them more often... but of course it wouldn't ever be "required" to do so. Also, the side-benefit of journals: If peeps are here to engage with them, they are more likely to also engage with other areas of BYH!

The best things we can do to encourage activity and visitors is to keep sharing the site with peeps (friends, social media, etc.), then welcoming all new peeps, posting great threads (with detailed subject lines for the search engines), and engaging throughout the community discussions!
