Thanks for letting me join your herd! I was born and raised in Alaska, and moved to Texas. I had always invisioned my life with a handful of chest freezers full of food, a beautiful garden on 5 acres or so with a sweet little farm house. We live in city limits, have basically no land, and I don’t know how to garden in this Texas heat to save my life!
So I got rabbits! I’ll fill these chest freezers one way or another! Still working on the food forest in the back yard..but rabbit meat will be mighty tasty as well!
Thanks again for the add, looking forward to y’all’s wealth of information!

Welcome to Texas from a Texan! LOL Just where in Texas did you land? Can you please add your general location to your avatar? It will help in giving you gardening advice. Rabbits make a good small livestock with the bonus of being quiet in the city limits.

We drive through Weatherford on our way to Odessa to see our daughter and family. We are just north of Tyler, so 7 1/2 miles to I-20 and 8 hours later, we are in Odessa. Going through Dallas and Fort Worth is a game of high speed bumper cars. If you make it to the city limits, you win! LOL

It's kinda hot and dry where you are, but you can still raise a small garden on your city lot.

@PingRabbitry, we’re in Wasilla and NO; i can’t see Russia from my house!

I don’t mean to be too nosey, so soon; but im curious if your easter bunnies are laying those Easter egg’s we see in the Avatar?
Haha, I’ve heard that one a time or two.. and no we don’t live in igloos or ride polar bears;) haha lived there for the first 25 years of my life, and still have family in homer and anchorage. I actually worked at a bakery in Wasilla called Turkey Red. She still in business?

We have three laying hens, and the kids shoved some of their early eggs into the back of the fridge.. this is a progression of their egg size as they’ve aged the last couple months haha

Yes.. it’s hot and dry, for sure! I’m trying something different and doing some no dig garden beds. Lots of compost, mulch, rabbit poop and fish water. Hoping the excessive mulch keeps some of the moisture in the ground. We also just added gutters so we could collect rain water and set up a drip irrigation system off that. Plans for peppers, tomatoes, corn, beans, amaranth, cabbage, lettuce, radish, carrots and herbs galore.. wish me luck! Haha
