$80 for both the visit and the meds? Or just the general office visit? Why are they so hard to find?! Two different dx’s? Thats not good, but just like our care, they diagnose by ruling things out.
80 for meds and visit. My former vet retired. He was allergic to rabbits which led me to this quack. She was originally 1/2 hr ride away. He retired she bought the office. Long story with her not all good either. Most of them only will do cats and dogs, couple do birds. Need Dr Pol.

I can do $80. Much easier to swallow 🤣🤣 (once in a while). My good vet now only does dogs and cats once the last exotic left for a place closer to home. They are so busy, they werent able to accommodate another one even though she expanded the practice. She’s good and people know it.

Its a tough call to make at times. Each of you have a valid reason for the way you feel 🥰.
I was unprepared and uninformed, very unlike how I usually do things. If I had a large herd, I would not have taken him. But, at the same time, he has gotten to me. He is such a sweetheart, I would've at least considered it even if I did have a larger herd.
Im getting my shopping list ready for a decent first aid kit before they restrict medicinal purchases, in case that becomes a thing.
Any recommendations?

There's my other problem, I don't know what to get.
I keep terramycin handy for eyes, mineral oil for mites. Beyond that I am lost when it's for rabbits. Dogs and quail I was fine.

ARBA has a pretty good list of things that I am using as a “starter” but im curious what others on here use. Click on the link in my signature and scroll down. Their list is in the bottom half of that page.

I found, years ago, that you need to have some basic knowledge of medical care, if you own livestock. Sorry to say but, some animals are not monetarily valuable....cull vice spend. Now, I don't mean if "something" contagious, etc. BUT. A few yrs back when a fav goat doe though she could fly over a fence -- resulting in a broken leg at ankle -- I had to choose costs of vet and no guarantees or cull. Sadly, I knew the answer! Me, the person who paid $2k for dog op...who sadly dies a wk later. I've nursed many!!! Some good results, some bad. I understand the connection we have with them....

If I had not had an AWESOME teaching vet, I would not be so able. We cannot save them all. :( But with some basic knowledge, good observation and some meds on hand, we can often save an animal. I've tried to assemble some products, equipment, meds and knowledge that has saved an animal and a bill. I've also tried to develop a decision making concept. My vet helped with that.

so, read and connect all you can! Be prepared and accept that some won't make it, so save your $. Your buck doesn't seem to have a genetic problem. Breed and find his injury point. Next time, look harder and analyze the problem before vet trip. I so admire you wanting the best but, looking at what you found, I would have not gone vet so soon. I saw skin damage from photo. So, why? Then look,.,...it's a learning curve.

So sorry about your dog 🤗. That really sucks.
I really wish I had a “farm” vet anywhere around instead of “pet” vets. I think it makes a big difference.
