Coy had twin girls!:love
I was there for the entire thing and didn’t leave until both girls had nursed. They were both born and up and nursing within an hour. Easy peasy.

Twin girls! They are white, does that make their wool more desirable?
Depends. I like both naturally coloured and white wool, but a lot of people prefer white because they like having lots of options for dying.
What’s interesting is that the lambs have very different wool already at this stage. The firstborn has waves while the second has those corkscrews curls. I’m guessing the first will have wool like Coy while the second will have wool like Dingo.

DS came out to do night check with me.

Got the placenta cleaned up and added more fresh straw so they’ll be nice and cozy.
So far the 2nd born seems to have a better personality, but we’ll see how it goes, they’re only a few hours old, after all.

Now just waiting on Foxy. They were bred the same day… :pop

Soo cute.
Fascinating about the wool differences.

Things aren’t looking great for Foxy. Have the vet called, but it’s already been so long 🥺
From what I can feel, the lamb is presenting back (spine) first. I’ve tried to reposition and failed. Miserably.
More than once.
Now I’m just stuck. Waiting for the vet to call me back with an ETA. And praying he gets here in time to save her/them.

OH no - I'm so sorry! Hope the vet gets there in time. I've had that position with pygmy goats before. I would just try to find a foot - any foot. Sometimes you have to really go deep...as in down...not further in. Once you figure out if it's a front foot or a back foot you can go from there. In that position a back leg is actually easier. Pop up both of the legs and pull. Beats trying to get a head around or up if it's tucked down or around. Gotta worry about the kid taking a breath while the head is still inside - but ultimately - getting it out is the most important thing. Good luck - really, really hope it works out ok!
