Farr just had twin boys. 1 black and 1 brown with not a spot in sight.







These two are ridiculously adorable.








I’ve broken Orla already.


Baby Lizzie spent some time outside today.



She’s back inside taking a nap on my lap. She sleeps in bed with me at night too. Yes, I’m *that* person. 🤣

I did a necropsy on her poor sister this morning and sent pictures to my vet friend. It looks like all the milk was going into her rumen instead of her abomasum which means there was most likely an issue with her esophageal groove and there was nothing that could have been done differently to save her.

Another bittersweet lambing. Freyja has a fancy gray spotted katmoget boy. I was really hoping for a girl from her since it’s her last lambing, but I can’t really be too disappointed because all of my Shetland ewes in my flock are her daughters, granddaughters, or great granddaughters.

She actually had twin boys, but the 2nd boy had to be put down because he had a weird birth defect. The skin between his pizzle area and groin never grew together and then from his pizzle to about 1/2 way to the groin, the muscle was also separated and his intestines were coming out. His testicles were practically non-existent and he had no scrotum. I have a few pictures, but I’ll only post them if people are interested.

I think this is a sign that I should have retired my aged ewes earlier.



Isla (Border Leicester) is due next. She’s ready to explode. Dee (Shetland) is due on the 19th. After that there’s only 2 left to go. I have due dates of 3/26 and 3/28, but I’m guessing they will be mid-April instead.

Baby Lizzie is doing well. I’ve got to get her trained to the milk pail soon so she can move to the barn. I’m going to try to get P-Ewe’s triplets on it too so they don’t suck the life out of her and fall behind.

I was going to knit last night, but she wanted to snuggle.

I had a lamb born on my second lambing with her intestines outside her body. The ewe had licked her clean, poor thing couldn’t get up no matter how hard her mom tried. I put her down. Granddaughter was spending the weekend and we had a funeral.

A friend had a goat kid born with intestines out...had to put down, just yesterday. Sad and freaky.

Nice to get them mostly all lambed and done at once like that. We are trying to get the cows to do that too.... more uniform calf crops to sell...
Sorry for the few that you have lost. There seems to have been a rash of unusual problems this year with calves among some of the farmers on the cattle forum also. "water belly" in a purebred breeder in NY... and also one for my local farmer I get my milk from had one... said he had never seen it, heard of it, vet out and then lost the cow after all that... good registered cow... calf was huge... with distended abdomen... dead... the latest is a calf born HAIRLESS to a breeder in Canada... there is a syndrome for that and sometimes they will get hair... it is not a premie... just weird stuff...
