Just a thought -- maybe you have some tasty goat meat recipes šŸ¤”
Not really. Mainly we just get the meat made into goat burger. We think goat burger tastes so much better than beef burger!!! We get a few of the choicer cuts make into roasts, which we cook in the instant pot, with onions, garlic and carrots, using the broth to make a nice rich gravy.

I recently came up with the idea of putting down our hardware cloth. (to keep the pocket gophers out of the garden), put a row of 8x8x16ā€ cinderblocks on top of hardware cloth, and then build the raised beds on top of that. That will make the raised beds, 20 inches high, which will make it a lot easier to work with.
Excellent idea!

I'm VERY glad you've come to chat with us :D

I will add my "glad to see you" with everyone else.....

Goats look very good.... little ones are cute.....
Yep, working a little slower some days too... Just got my garden tilled and our weather has been so up and down... but I have potatoes that I hope to get in this week.... looking at some 30's again next weekend at night... so haven't been in too big a rush. So sorry about the ankle... my replacement went really well and it works good except does not straighten as much as I would like.... but no pain anymore. Sorry that yours hurts you.

Don't stay away so long....

Crystal and her two little boys are doing really well. The boys are big enough that we are ready to put them in with the herd. The one that looks more like Danny Boy is a little bigger, but they are both growing by leaps and bounds.

Melody is due in one week. She is getting really big and her udder is filling out nicely. We used to put our mamaā€™s in an enclosed kidding pen before they were due, because we werenā€™t sure what the dogs would do with the afterbirth. Well, the last two mamaā€™s who kidded had them in the goat shed before we could put them in the kidding pen. The dogs behaved perfectly. So, we have decided to let mama have her babies and then put them in the enclosed pens. Itā€™s a lot less messy that way.

Sonata isnā€™t due until the first week of July. She was the one Danny Boy wanted to be with when he got out of his pen to get DHā€™s attention. He wanted to go into the goat yard for his conjugal visit with her. We had put Sonata in Danny Boyā€™s pen with Melody, because it seemed like Sonata was also in heat, but she wasnā€™t interested.

Life has been really hectic around here lately. So, I havenā€™t been able to get out to take photos of Melody and Sonata. I will try to get photos today when we put Crystal and her two little boys in with the herd.

We just came up with a new recipe using goat burger. So I thought I would share it with you:

Oh MAN!!! if you have never made goat burger meatloaf like this, you really should give it a try! That was the best meatloaf I have ever eaten. DH made it and did an amazing job with it.

Here is his recipe :

GOAT BURGER MEATLOAF

1 pound of goat burger
2 eggs
1/2 cup (+ 1 Tbsp) of crushed pork rinds (We use
this in place of breadcrumbs for making fried
foods in the air fryer - they make an amazing
crust!
1 small chopped onion
1/2 cup grated carrot
1/2 - 1 tsp Southwest Seasoning
1 tsp Pink Sea Salt

Squish it all together with your hands. Place in a well greased baking pan. Bake at 385Ā°, until a meat thermometer, placed in the middle of the pan, reads at least 165Ā°F. (Approximately 45 minutes).

Oh, yes! About 10 minutes before it was done he sprayed some olive oil on top. It gave it a nice crunchy crust. YUM!!! Next time we are going to double it!

This evening, We went out at meal time to give our mama goats some selenium gel. They werenā€™t too crazy about it. I donā€™t know whyā€¦ It smells yummy! As I was going back in the house, I turned around and Danny boy was up on the fence looking for a treat. So I said, ā€œdo you want some selenium?ā€ He stuck his tongue out to smell it, so I went ahead and gave him a dose. I figured it couldnā€™t hurt. He just gobbled the stuff up! He really likes it!

While I was out there, I got some pictures of the new kids in with the herd:
