Good Morning. Second cup in, did the farm chores before the rain comes. The past two weeks were so busy I barely remember them. It might be age catching up, who knows? Last week was my first residency, so I spent the week in NH away from my family, with about 200 other students. It was fun, and a great learning experience. This past week, I planted my vegetable garden-it took two full days, and I swore I was having heat stroke several times. I put down weed fabric prior to planting, so it was very labor intensive to put each seedling in. My sons were helpful, but I'm a control freak (whoda thought? :idunno ) so I had to do most everything myself. I'm not a smart woman.

Thistle and Clover are doing great! They're so much fun, and very affectionate with everyone. They were not bottle babies, so I spent a few days getting them used to us, and they're like puppies. My youngest and I put up a 5 foot fence to keep them out of the garden, but they have 2 acres of weeds to sample and enjoy so they haven't seen the garden yet. I have resolved myself to the fact that my rose bushes will eventually be eaten and enjoyed.

Coffee, praise music beautiful weather. :love
Everyone else HATES working a Sat. For me, it's peaceful. I get the whole building to myself. (No yelling!) And we're only accepting loads from a few customers who need to clear the yards so I scale a few trucks... wait for them to go, load & come back... scake a few trucks... wait again.
I COULD be busting my butt doing this AND my regular job. 🤔 but I think that if I'm required to cover for the crazy scale lady... I'm only going to do what she would have been doing - JUST scaling trucks.
Time for another cup of coffee ☕️

Good morning! First cup in, second cup brewing. My FIL and DH's cousin are coming over today. I feel the need to scrub everything, (like I'm a good housekeeper-I'm NOT) They're looking forward to seeing the goats and chickens, so I guess they won't be spending much time inside. (these are the things I tell myself to relieve stress...)

We got torrential rain yesterday, which brought the pollen level down. This has been a terrible year for allergies. I never really suffered like this, so I thought I had some exotic disease...turns out it's nothing that interesting. Just mother natures revenge.

I hope everyone has a great Sunday!

Having my coffee and now wondering how my day will unfold. It did rain last night, finished off about 6 am. Was a soft heavy sprinkle thing then but, grass is soooo wet! Chickens are out -- goats are still just looking out 🤣 Gonna be overcast most all morning until this front skedaddles on out. Better boot up and do chores. The girls are waiting to be milked.

I have 8 bucklings to pull away and get moms on milk line. A couple have doelings on them also. That will help! Won't have to deal with all at one time. A couple I'll milk for comfort, then dry off. Don't need all that milk! In fact, will sell a few dairy does this year to trim that herd, buy a couple meat does to increase that group. Financially I can get more kids to sell from meat breeding. The dairy are seasonal, so 1 kidding a year. Meat are year round, so breed back sooner. BUT love my goat milk, so I'll always keep about 6-8 for that. They pay their way between milk and kids. 🥰

Don't need all these chickens either! Looking a 18 eggs a day! So, why did I put eggs under these 2 broodies yesterday?? 🤔🤣🥴. They won't break up -- might as well get some replacements!? 😖🤷. Can't help myself or break the habit. 😊 Need buying customers again?!!!

All the rain has brought out the mosquitos in force. They think sprays like OFF are a lovely garnish.
I used to take time release vitamin b for years. Great for energy and no mosquito bites. Mosquitoes and fleas (from the cats) ate DH alive. I got no bites at all. It had to be the Vitamin B. I plan to take it again in Texas for the mosquitoes. I have to take a lot of other eds now that I am in my prime, and hate taking pills but will start taking B again.

Coffee is ready! Lack of sleep last night. Coyotes were waaay too close, dogs were barking crazy. I got up, went out on front porch twice last night to yell at coyotes. I yelled Good dogs! Get’em! Dogs went off again right before 5, that makes 3 times. Makes me wish I had one of those night vision scopes on a rifle with a red dot laser. Since they run in the $10 Grand, I don’t reckon I’ll be getting one any time soon.
