Is there any such thing as a nice gander in the goose world?

They can fly if you get them worked up enough! But only like 8 feet in the air...and with no particular destination. Just for fun.
Sounds like you're a goose person. You just need a market for goose eggs or goslings. Someone needs to convince the world those big glunkers are the better chicken egg-because they sort of are. If anything they seemed to be milder, which makes sense considering the gooses' preferred diet.

I’m just the person who has ducks trained to geese, and guinea fowl trained to ducks and geese. Handle them a lot when young, I have a certain whistle they are trained to. Starts off at hatching, before opening or approaching brooder box I whistle to let them know I’m approaching, combine with food, water or petting they know it’s me. I can say here piggy piggy piggy and I got 11 pigs barreling across their pen to meet me at any time.

When I walk towards my chicken runs they rush towards the door...I don't have to say "chick, chick" anymore. I am the giver of grapes/wild strawberries/dry cat food/BOSS/leftovers.

Geese are herbivorous. Farmers used to keep them in their orchards to graze down the weeds. Avocado farmers kept flocks in the groves to prevent theft of the avocados. Geese are not to be messed with. A gander can break a man's arm with their wings. And their beaks are no joke either.

But I still kike having them around. We will be getting some for our pond eventually. Erick breds Pilgrim geese (sex linked color differentiated) and said he will give me 2 pair. Also a couple of muscovies.

Water rights are a big deal. In Colorado it’s illegal to capture RAINWATER. All water, including RAIN belongs to the state.

Being from southern California, water is a requirement for me. One reason we put in a new well is because we wanted an alternative source of water. You can drill a new well now, but who knows what laws the government will pass. Water rights are life!
