When Carson was a puppy, he had a crate to be in. It became his safe place and he loved sleeping in it. Then he outgrew it and it was the biggest one I could find. I got him dog beds, but they got so dirty, stinky and collected sand like a beach. Now I just give him large bath towels. Easier to clean!

I was invited to a Christmas gathering of all the choir members and their spouses. I gave Caleb a good walk before I left, and secured him in his crate with a chicken foot treat. I heard a couple yips as I left.

When I got home Caleb was in the crate, excited to see me, and we went outside for a p walk. My son reported that he took Caleb out for a walk about 90 minutes after I left, and that Caleb sat and waited on the top step until my son had descended and was standing on the ground!

Training is working!

Caleb barked in the middle of the night, and Debbie 🐱 skedaddled out of the bedroom...she keeps going up to his night crate door, and startles him.

This morning I got on my coat and walked to the bedroom to get Caleb out of his crate, with the leash in hand. As we were coming back down the hall Debbie panicked, ran, jumped up on top of the washer by the outside door. Caleb knew where she was, was VERY interested. I stopped by the dryer where Debbie was crouching on top, tense, told Caleb to sit, which he did, still staring. I told him "Off kitty", petted Debbie, said "Nice kitty", turned Caleb's head so he wasn't focused on the cat, petted him, "Good boy", repeated the actions, then took him outside. Good.

Outside Caleb saw a stray cat, "Off kitty" I said. He stared, then relaxed and turned away to sniff the grass. "Good boy!" I praised. After the yard walk was over he saw another cat, crouching under the car. Stop. Stare. "Off kitty" I said. Stare. "Off kitty" I repeated. Caleb looked at me, relaxed, and we walked away from the car to the back yard.

Progress. :fl

Play date is postponed again. Foster mom babysat her grandchildren who were sick, now she's sick. I'm sorry for Caleb, but more concerned about the foster's health, which already was not optimal. :hu

I hope she's better soon. With all that you've been doing with Caleb and the successes, I'd say it's becoming more of a play date than a fixer upper date. No worrying as much, and Caleb is proving to be a great pup and recovering well.
She said she's taking homemade fire cider and elderberry oxymel. Interesting explanations.
