According to my vet, when wool falls out like that it means she probably had a feaver.
Mine did the same thing, and sadly she didn't make it. :(
Glad to hear she is doing better though. :)
My other ewe is progressing well. I too have changed what feed she was on. I also have been giving...
That is what I'm doing with mine. Getting her to stand up and move a bit about 4-5 times a day. If your ewe has been down a week, she may be pretty weak.
She is still pregnant, right? She will need to be able to stand to give birth, at least part of the time. I think you are going to have...
Any stories you want to share about how you got your ewe through the recovery process?
Since she showed signs of trouble, I have been using a combo of 'rambo's'* formula and my own for treatment until she aborted twin ram lambs. :( I had to help her with the process and it really took a lot out...
By the way, hi Aggie! :frow
As you know I used "rambo's" toxemia treatment and it worked. I have been tweeking the treatments lately with grass and cornmeal 'smoothie' drenches.
Any updates? Hope she is better. :)
Did she lamb?
What have you done to get her through the recovery process?
I'm asking b/c I'm going through this same thing. I'll probably start a thread myself on the recovery process of a ewe that sufferes from pregnancy toxemia if I don't hear back from...

I also have an Icelandic, but he isn't an easy keeper. Sweet guy, just way more delicate than my Cheviot. Lovely, soft fleece though.

Sounds like some high quality wool from a happy sheep! ;)
"The Cheviot has a medium fine fleece (50-56's spin count) and a generous staple length (4 to 5 inches) which made it the foundation fiber of the world renowned Scotch Tweed industry. For today's handspinner, Cheviot wool is an excellent...
I just put up 130 ft of electrified chicken wire. Six inches off the ground. The chicken wire is only two feet tall, all in all it stands 2 1/2 ft tall. It works great and it was pretty cheap. I used plastic t-posts (the kind you can push into the ground with your boot) to attach the...
