Nasal discharge from only one side

So when I went out to feed yesterday I noticed one of my does had a white frothy discharge from only one nostril. She is otherwise acting fine. She ate last night and is out grazing in the pasture today. We had some bad rain yesterday so I'm pretty sure their shelter is a mess and I will clean...

Magnum- the unfolding/unravelling story of our LGD

I agree about the shock collars where you administer the shock but one thing I will suggest is a proximity shock collar. They come with a little fake rock and you can get as many of them as you need. the dog wears the collar all the time and gets a warning noise when he gets close and a shock if...

Magnum- the unfolding/unravelling story of our LGD

In my experience with dog training I never, ever, chase them. They think it's a game. If my puppy ever gets loose, I turn around and walk away in a safe direction while calling. They don't want to be left out. In fact with my beagles part of their puppy training is I take them out to a forested...

    Out of Hay

Thank you all. I was able to get them some compressed bales to tide me over.

    Out of Hay

Not sure how concerned I need to be about this. I have run out of hay and the feed store is also out. In addition, I'm leaving town tomorrow for a long weekend. I've bought some alfalfa pellets to try to supplement the grain they get in the evenings and they have access to pasture 24/7. How...

    Butchering heartbreak

I can't kill any of my animals and I have chickens and goats. I just can't do it. I even raise tilapia in my pond and the last time I tried to eat one it nearly put me off all fish. I respect those that have the ability to do it. I kind of wish I did. I think if I found a way where I could drop...

    Should I pull a goat?

Well, I may have been wrong. I went out and checked her and I can't feel another baby. So she's just fat? As long as she doesn't start showing signs of distress I guess I will leave her alone.

    Should I pull a goat?

I have three does that were all due this week. The first two had their kids with no problem. The third one had one baby while I was at work today and it is already dry and walking around. The problem is I think she was carrying twins and I'm worried that she hasn't had the other one yet. Should...

    Aggressive Donkey Possibly?

Do you have a buggy whip? I would recommend carrying it and snapping it when he gets aggressive. Don't hit him with it, but make sure he knows you mean business. Give him a bucket just for treats and throw some carrots in when he comes over and acts nicely.

    Summer feeding for ND goats

That mineral looks like an excellent option! I'll pay shipping if it means not having to wrestle the goats. My billy won't allow me to touch him at all so I was going to have to leave him out but now I can just give them all the minerals! And thank you for the weight info. Next time I have them...

    Summer feeding for ND goats

Just an update. I got some hay and I have it set up on a pallet outside under a tarp. The goats are sooooo excited to have it! Thank you all for your input. I'm also going to work on getting some copper and selenium in their diet as they have a little bit of a red tint to their coat. Are there...

    Summer feeding for ND goats

Just a tarp? I have a pallet, but in Alabama it gets pretty humid. I always thought leaving it outside would ruin it.

    Summer feeding for ND goats

Well, I use a trailer to get my hay from Tractor Supply so if I am going to get two I might as well get 6. One day I want to build a shed to keep the hay and feed in so that I can maybe park in my own garage.
